Fort Worth Municipal CourtDriving safety course guide

How to request permission, complete your Texas defensive driving course and return the documents your court requires.

Court permission comes first.

Your court decides eligibility, deadlines and dismissal. This independent guide summarizes published resources; use your court order and current official instructions for your case.

Check current service information before visiting; in-person and virtual availability may differ.

01 · Before enrollment

Request permission from Fort Worth Municipal Court

Fort Worth lists an online DSC request service and in-person or mail requests. Its DSC page sets a 21-calendar-day request period from citation issuance and says later requests require judicial approval. Wait for approval before taking the course or requesting the driving record.

Check the appearance date and eligible offense with the court. Court costs are separate from the course price. When a portal offers several choices, select the court’s driving safety request process and review its instructions before paying.

Complete the course and the court’s conditions

Use your approval order for the certificate, record, affidavit, due date and return method. Confirm DSC document delivery with the court’s DSC office; its published phone is 817-392-8675.

Choose your course →
  1. Read the approval. Confirm the approved charge, full court name, documents and actual due date.
  2. Finish the required course. Our Texas driving safety course is six hours online, with no final exam and an included instant completion certificate after successful completion.
  3. Prepare the complete packet. Sign the court copy as required and obtain the record or affidavit specified in your order.
  4. Submit and confirm receipt. Use the court’s accepted method, save proof of delivery and check with the court that every condition has been satisfied.

A common DSC completion period is 90 days, but the date in your approval controls. Course access time does not extend a court deadline. If you need more time, contact the court before the deadline.

Your document checklist

Use this planning list alongside your court order. Requirements and accepted delivery methods can differ.

  • Court approval and the exact due date
  • Signed course completion certificate with the correct court name
  • Certified driving record in the type required by the court
  • Any court affidavit, insurance copy or additional proof ordered
  • Submission receipt or other proof of delivery
  • Confirmation from the court that the case requirements are complete

A Type 3A driving record is separate from your course certificate. Our $40 bundle includes both services; the instant download feature applies to the course certificate. Check driving-record delivery before relying on it for a deadline.

Questions about Fort Worth Municipal Court and defensive driving

Can I order my record before Fort Worth approves DSC?

Fort Worth explicitly says not to take the course or request the driving record until the Municipal Court approves the request.

Can I take the course before the court approves it?

For ticket dismissal, request and receive permission first. Taking a course or purchasing a package does not itself grant court approval or dismiss a citation.

Does this page mean the court endorses Texas Driving Safety?

Texas Driving Safety is an independent course provider, Texas Traffic Class Inc., provider license LICENSE PENDING. This page does not imply endorsement or affiliation with the court.

What if my citation contains more than one violation?

Ask which charge or charges the court approved for DSC. One course does not automatically resolve every charge on a citation. Follow any remaining court requirements separately.

Will the school submit my certificate automatically?

Use the delivery method your court accepts. Do not assume that finishing the course or receiving a certificate files it with the court. Keep proof of submission and confirm receipt.

Can I use this course for a motorcycle or specialized course order?

Confirm the exact course type in your order. A motorcycle operator training requirement or specialized child-safety course can require a different program from a standard driving safety course.
